A Moment with Malidoma - From RITUAL: Power, Healing and Community

"Where ritual is absent, the young ones are restless or violent, there are no real elders,
and the grown-ups are bewildered. The future is dim."

"We owe to the cosmic order because we are individually and communally responsible for its maintenance.

Every person is sent to this outpost called Earth to work on a project that is intended to keep this cosmic order healthy. Any person that fails to do what he or she must do energetically stains the cosmic order."

"...when the focus of everyday living displaces ritual in a given society, social decay begins to work from the inside out."

"...the weakening of links with the spirit world, and general alienation of people from themselves and others.

"In a content like this there are no elders to help anyone remember through initiation of his or her important  place in the community."

"...throwing away one's culture for another is an insult to the dead, and can result, as in the case of Africa, in a lot of unresolved ills."

"...hiddenness is effectiveness. Hiddenness is power."

"To be attracted to an ancient way of life is initiate one's personal spiritual emancipation."

"...the expression of emotion as a process of self-rekindling or calming, which not only helps in handling death, but also resets or repairs the feelings within the person."

It is for who it's for.
